Individual Work

Remarkable architecture unites people. Locating in a high-density residential district, the School of Architecture creates an environment that provides real-life reminders to the key fundamental to architectural design, integrating space and people. In line with the concept of being inspired by the community, the architecture improves living condition of its neighborhood dwellers. The borderless recreational space allows houses on back of the school to have a chance to be closer to nature. Additionally, such open park plays a role in balancing the busy lives of people across the street, Phsar Kandal Market and Ounalom Pagoda. This creates a lively dialogue between the architecture and its community, and brings the togetherness out of the neighborhood. By encompassing the school campus with a large landscape park, the school invites public inspirations and critiques to its students daily.

Envisioned as an inspiring design institution, the architecture tackles the current issues in living condition of the local community, houses being too close and there is no space for landscape that encourages social engagement. The school nurtures the new generation of Architects and Designers to understanding the importance of social exchange. By designing the school landscape with no boarder from the neighborhood, the architecture takes the first step to being an example of community-centric design approach. Guided by the aspects of improving lifestyles, the architecture dedicates large landscape area that accommodates the ongoing traffic of neighborhood dwellers from the nearby homes, local fish markets and monasteries. The architecture takes inspiration from local characteristics by facing the campus towards the endless human interaction. The invisible push and pull inspiration from the Northeast of the map inspires the motion of organic terrace across each storey of the architecture in a way that creates interesting diagonal curves to the master plan layout.
